Advice for Study Assistance:
- Study in sections of time. 20-50 minute time periods followed by a brief break (5-10 minutes) is the most effective way to study.
- Use daylight hours. An hour of studying during the day is worth two at night! Do the work that requires the most concentration (typically reading) earliest in the day.
- Rank your classes and be sure to spend time on your most challenging class(es) everyday and early in the day.
- Study actively. Ask yourself questions, review your notes regularly, discuss key concepts with peers and course professor.
- Set aside time specifically for studying.

SLAC provides tutoring services (individual, group, online), Supplemental Instruction (collaborative group study for specific courses), learning and study skills workshops, and learning specialist consultations free of charge.
|Writing Center |
The Writing Center provides trained tutors to assist students with all types of writing—such as essays, technical writing, research papers, formal letters, in-class essay exams, MLA/APA documentation, professional writing, and resumes. The Math Lab provides math tutoring in a personalized atmosphere.
|Student Support Services (SSS) |
SSS provides academic and educational support services to college students who meet first generation, low income and/or disability criteria, in order to increase retention and graduation rates of participants.
|The COMM Lab
The COMM Lab provides assistance to students enrolled in any Communication Studies course to help improve their oral communication and develop their skills, giving them an opportunity to practice the communication techniques they learned in classes through recorded experiential activities (filmed performances).

CLC is a free computer lab and tutoring center open to students obtaining a degree from the College of Science & Engineering.
|Supplemental Instruction (SI) |
It is a nontraditional form of tutoring that focuses on collaboration, group study, and interaction for assisting students.
