Financial Affairs Internship

Responsible for providing undergraduate coaching to students seeking financial assistance in the following areas: personal finance, professional finance, educational finance, academic finance, and financial support. Interns will provide individualized financial coaching for students to help them reach target goals.

Responsibilities include:

  • Data entry for student participants
  • Assist in day-to-day operations
  • Develop and conduct financial education presentations
  • Submit weekly/monthly reports on student financial progress
  • Communicate student concerns and issues to Internship Supervisor
  • Meet bi-monthly with assigned students and document student progress
  • Participate in both preliminary and on-going academic coaching training
  • Create and facilitate workshops on key topics related to financial education
  • Assist the Internship Supervisor with student and program assessment and follow-up
  • Identify internal weaknesses, identify solutions, and to adapt coaching methods and tools to create more effective organizational and student outcomes
  • Perform other duties as assigned 


  • Ability to multi-task
  • Interest or knowledge of finance management
  • Excellent computer, written and oral communication skills
  • Proven organizational skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Interest and knowledge in student development theory and student retention
  • Detailed oriented, able to work independently and as a productive team member
  • Ability to utilize concepts of student development theory in program planning, academic coaching, advising, financial advising, and administrative duties or ability to learn concepts quickly

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior Mentoring or Coaching experience
  • Experience providing Financial Education
  • Experience with various data-base systems
  • Knowledge of the requirements for Student Academic Progress (SAP) satisfaction
